Creator, Creature, Collards: A Bible Study from the Farm

An Invitation from Jarrod Davis

An invitation from Jarrod Davis to spend some time on the farm in this study, Creator, Creature, Collards: A Bible Study from the Farm

On December 24, 1776, a Quaker man named Joshua Davis purchased a tract of land bordering Aycock Swamp in what was then Dobbs County, now Wayne County, North Carolina.

That man was my great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather, and the land he purchased on that Christmas Eve nearly 250 years ago is still my family’s farm.

My name is Jarrod Davis and I want to invite you to spend some time with me on the farm- metaphorically speaking- in my study, Creator, Creature, Collards: A Bible Study from the Farm.

In this six part series, I’ll share stories and lessons from my family’s farm, and we’ll investigate Scripture, to learn what it means to be created by God and placed within this Creation, surrounded by other creatures beloved by our Creator.

Together, we’ll learn about the Enjoyment of Creation, the Use of Creation, the Dominion of Creation, the Abuse of Creation, the Redemption of Creation, and the Care of Creation.

By the time we’re done, it is my hope that you will understand better the type of person you are created to be, and how Christians fit into the world outside our church doors. And I hope we’ll have removed some of the walnuts from the bacon of our theology.

About the Study

Creator, Creature, Collards: A Bible Study from the Farm is a Bible study to help Christians understand our place and our role in God’s Creation. This is a topic that has gone unexamined by modern Christians for far too long, but we are finally turning our attention its way.

Creator, Creature, Collards: A Bible Study from the Farm is designed for Christians who might already be familiar with their Bible, but maybe haven’t looked to see what it has to teach us about this planet we inhabit and share with more than our fellow humans. Featuring stories that are accessible and hopefully relatable, this study will ease you into deeper, meaningful and important conversations.

With its easy to understand style, Creator, Creature, Collards: A Bible Study from the Farm is perfect for individuals or groups alike.

Each session will explore a different aspect of our relationship with the world:

  1. The Enjoyment of Creation
  2. The Use of Creation
  3. The Dominion of Creation
  4. The Abuse of Creation
  5. The Redemption of Creation
  6. The Care of Creation
